All About Nurse Salary

According to employment statistics in the country, the median yearly salary of nurses was about $60,000. This is only the median, however. The nurse salary all over the country would vary depending on the area of employment.

According to local employment statistics, nurses working in hospitals would earn about a little more than $60,000 a year. On the other hand, the statistics showed that the nurses that work at homes would earn an average of about $57,000 a year.

So, it can be seen from the aforementioned figures that nurse salary can vary significantly depending on what type of nurse you are, whether you are a hospital nurse or a nursing home nurse.

There are other things that may impact nurse salary. One factor could be the amount of experience the nurse has.

Basically, the more experience the nurse has the higher the salary that he or she could get. More experienced nurses could get up to $70,000 to $90,000 a year. The nurses with not so much experience could earn only about $30,000 a year. You can observe the significant difference experience can make on the salary of nurses. The location they work in can also impact nurse salary. The nurses who work in areas of the country with relatively higher costs of living such as California and New York are exposed to generally higher salaries. On the other hand, the nurses who are located in the more rural areas of the country have relatively lower salaries. The salaries are basically adjusted to fit and reflect the specific area?s cost of living.

Certifications and certain special trainings will also have an impact on the salary of nurses. Basically, those who have earned more certifications will have more of a chance of getting a higher salary. The degree of the nurse will also have an impact. Nurses who have graduated with a bachelor?s degree as opposed to having an associate?s degree will have higher salaries. Consequently, nurses who have master?s degrees will have the potential of reaping higher salaries. Nurse?s salaries can also vary depending on the roles that they undertake on the job. Nurses who perform the basic chores of the nurse are expected to earn the minimum that a nurse can earn. However, there are nurses who perform managerial responsibilities and are exposed to the business perspective of the medical field. These nurses tend to earn significantly higher salaries. Nursing salaries can also vary depending on what school you come from. Although this may seem to be discriminatory, it is a reality that students who have graduated from more prestigious schools and universities are given a priority over those who have graduated from other schools.

As for the future projections of the salary of this profession, the overall salary of nurses is expected to increase. This is because of the increase in demand for this profession. For this reason, more and more people have expressed their desire to become nurses. The higher demand would result in more benefits and bonuses for nurses.

Top Ten Technologies to Help Close Consulting Sales | Business ...

Today?s prospective client is an educated, sophisticated, well-informed and technically savvy professional. Therefore, if you want to play in the game, you must be current on technology as well. Below are the top ten technical tools you need to understand and utilize. You do not have to be an expert in each, but you certainly need to be very literate in every area.

1. Cell Phone & Laptop ? Seems like a given. However, you need to invest in a late model mobile phone that can properly surf the web and handle all email formats and more. In addition, a modern laptop, with wireless internet connectivity is essential.

2. PowerPoint ? The ability to create and distribute multimedia presentations is fundamental. Burn CDs or DVDs; imprint your name and logo. It can help you look very professional.

3. Email ? Email used to be a simple way to send a message. Today, it is a mega, multimedia outlet and platform for mass marketing that is affordable.

4. CRM ? While Customer Relationships Management does not specifically mean technology or software, you must utilize a sophisticated database management system. If you are still trying to manage your contacts and sales activities via an email program or a spreadsheet, you are a dinosaur.

5. Website & SEO ? If you build it, they will come: not necessarily. Not only do you need a quality website, but also a sound internet marketing strategy and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) techniques to drive traffic to you.

6. Social Networking ? Wherever millions of people gather, many of them potential clients, you had better be there as well. Establish a presence in the social media market.

7. Article Directories ? One of the best ways to create internet presence is to write quality, informative articles (or have them written for you) and post them all over the internet with back-links to your site.

8. Virtual Office ? Technology that will allow you to touch and feel clients and prospects from across the globe is essential today. Get familiar with tools like GoToMyPC and Skype.

9. Text Messaging ? Texting today is what email was yesterday. More than a way to stay in touch and get instant feedback, you can send photos, video and more via text: another reason why you need a late model cell phone.

10. YouTube ? Speaking of social media and videos, there is YouTube, which you can look at two ways: 1. A childish toy used for amusement. Or 2. A world wide medium that allows you to create, produce and launch full-scale, multimedia television style commercials, potentially viewable by millions, virtually free.

Stay up-to-speed on these ten techno tools, and you will be in the game!

AOL sales head exits in management reorganization (AP)

SAN FRANCISCO ? AOL Inc.'s heads of online ad sales and corporate communications are leaving as part of the Internet company's latest management reorganization.

In an internal email Monday, CEO Tim Armstrong outlined a number of leadership changes, including the exit of AOL's president of global advertising and strategy, Jeff Levick. Armstrong, a former Google Inc. advertising executive, had brought Levick over from the search company shortly after taking the helm at AOL in 2009. The two worked together for more than seven years at Google.

Armstrong said Levick will leave New York-based AOL after a six-week transition period.

Levick had been brought on to help strengthen AOL's online ad business, which the company relies on increasingly as a major source of revenue because its legacy business of providing dial-up Internet access is waning.

Levick will be replaced by Ned Brody, formerly executive vice president of paid services, who is taking on the newly created position of chief revenue officer and president of AOL's advertising unit.

Armstrong also said that Lauren Hurvitz, head of corporate communications, will leave as the company combines its marketing and corporate communications functions into one unit. With the change, Maureen Sullivan becomes the company's head of corporate communications and marketing. Sullivan had been AOL's senior vice president of brand marketing.

Like Armstrong and Levick, Sullivan's past includes Google. She served as Armstrong's chief of staff there.

Armstrong added that Kathy Andreasen, head of human resources, will be leaving and Sandy Mott will become interim human resources head as the company searches for someone to fill the position.

In his note, Armstrong said the moves "will make the company simpler, faster and stronger."

Since its separation from Time Warner Inc. in late 2009, AOL has made many management changes and shed thousands of jobs.

The changes announced Monday come about five months after based AOL's media chief David Eun departed following the company's decision to buy news hub Huffington Post and name the site's co-founder, Arianna Huffington, as its new head of content.

China's fresh rare earths export quotas restore cuts (Reuters)

BEIJING/SHANGHAI (Reuters) ? China on Thursday issued a second batch of quotas for exports of rare earths this year -- virtually making up for previous cuts -- after its commerce minister met with his EU counterpart to discuss this and other thorny issues between the two trading partners.

The announcement of 15,738 tonnes in the second batch of quotas for 2011 adds to the first round of 14,446 tonnes announced late last year. It also comes just a week after the World Trade Organization ruled against China's curbs on a different mix of raw materials but which some trade partners say could set a precedent.

The WTO's ruling last week that China had breached trade law by curbing exports of eight raw materials led Europe and the United States to say that meant China should also be forced to increase exports of 17 rare earths.

"We feel that a total of around 30,000 tonnes this year is a reasonable number given that Beijing probably does not want to cut the quota a lot, as that could bring more criticism from foreign countries," said an analyst at a foreign-invested fund in Beijing.

The latest issue brings China's total export quotas for the year to 30,184 tonnes, down slightly from 30,258 tonnes in 2010.

China, which accounts for some 97 percent of global output of the minerals crucial to global electronics, defense and renewable energy industries, had slashed rare earth export quotas by 35 percent for the first half of 2011, building on previous quota cuts. That move choked off global supplies, boosted prices and angered China's trading partners.

Beijing, which has defended its limits on exports on environmental and other grounds, said following the WTO decision that it would reform its exports of rare earths.

At a briefing on Thursday, Chinese Commerce Minister Chen Deming did not mention the new quotas but sounded a note of confidence, telling reporters he was not concerned about any possible WTO challenge to Beijing's rare earths restrictions.

"The rare earth issue has not entered the WTO stage," Chen said during a joint briefing in Beijing with the visiting EU trade commissioner, Karel De Gucht.

"I am not worried because we have already had some negotiation (with the EU)," Chen said without elaborating.

At a later briefing, De Gucht said he was confident a negotiated solution could be achieved and would review China's new quotas. But he added that China should publish such quotas further in advance of when they are imposed.

"The level of the quota is very important and also the predictability," he said. "What the industry needs is predictability."

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

Following the WTO's earlier ruling, De Gucht had said the EU, the United States and Mexico could consider legal action if China failed to cooperate.

"On rare earths, what we have been saying is that we want to see applied to rare earth materials the principles that have guided the WTO panel when making the judgment on the raw materials case. We want the same rules to be applied," De Gucht told reporters after he and Chen read separate statements on the morning's trade negotiations.

China expressed its intention to appeal the WTO raw materials decision, De Gucht said, adding that the rules on trade in raw materials would be clear by year-end.

In its raw materials ruling, the WTO panel said China's domestic policies fell short of demonstrating that its export duties on the materials, such as zinc and bauxite, were to curtail pollution or conserve exhaustible natural resources.

China has taken steps to consolidate and rein in its polluting rare earths industry, which may bolster its case if the raw materials ruling is used as a precedent in a similar challenge.

China has said claims by countries that its export curbs on rare earths threatened their economic and national security were "groundless," and that its quotas fell within WTO regulations.

"China only intends to protect its environment and resources and has set tougher and tougher standards for irresponsible mining, and there is no intent to target any other countries," said Liao Yuling, a metals analyst with Huachuang Securities.

The minivan I swore we'd never buy

iStockphoto/Elenathewise

My Tiny Hypocrisy is a personal essay series about coming to terms with our own little moral inconsistencies. A longer version of this essay originally appeared on Amy Pennza's Open Salon blog.

It was out there, in my driveway, a big box on wheels.

"Don't you want to see it?" my husband asked.

"No."

"It's blue."

"I see that."

It was very blue, our new minivan. I turned away from the window, wondering if this was it -- the final death blow to my youth. At the same time, I felt a small thrill of anticipation. Maybe the minivan would be the entree I needed to break into the seemingly insulated mommy circles in my area. Because despite years of bravado, claiming that motherhood wouldn't change me, I secretly wanted in.

My sophomore year of high school came back in a rush, and I remembered my science teacher standing in front of the class to casually announce that everyone needed to pair off into groups of two for a project. I watched with mounting horror as my friends quickly shuffled their chairs around, forming groups with subtle looks and beckoning hand gestures. Within seconds, I was deserted in a tangle of abandoned chairs and awkwardly angled desks. I gazed around the room and snagged the eye of another forgotten soul -- the biggest nerd in the class. It actually turned out pretty well, being paired with that boy; we got an A on the project while my friends (the traitors) did poorly. But I never forgot that snub. And that longing to belong followed me into adulthood. Into parenthood -- even when the available groups no longer appealed to me.

Part of the reason I was so hesitant to have children was my reluctance to find myself part of a group, stuck in a certain mind-set, married to a rigid set of rules for parenting. Modern parenthood -- and motherhood specifically -- is a sort of subculture that caters exclusively to middle-class women with young children and perpetuates the idea that being a mother automatically makes you part of a collective group of self-identified breeders, complete with must-have accessories and concrete theories of what constitutes good parenting.

Buying a minivan was an inevitable consequence of having more than two kids. You can fit two car seats in a car or an SUV. Once you move past two kids, though, you have two choices: monstrous bus-like SUV or minivan. And you're really just kidding yourself if you go with the first option. The most ubiquitous choice is the Suburban, which is just a minivan with bigger wheels. Chevy didn't even bother giving it a cool name. It's called a suburban -- that is, the opposite of urban. Meaning, you've abandoned the far-flung dreams of your youth and settled down with your passel of offspring in a tract house in the suburbs. It might as well be called the Procreatin'.

I embraced the herd mentality insofar as it pertained to transportation. But the other hallmarks of trendy motherhood were unappealing, other mommies pushy and judgmental. It was high school all over again, and I didn't fit in.

Breast-feeders are by far the most outspoken group in mommy circles. Upon noticing your pregnant belly, the more adamant among them will corner you and demand to know whether you plan to feed your offspring directly from your nipples. Dare to answer no, and they'll extol the myriad benefits of breast-feeding, tell you how long they nursed their child, and offer to sew you a baby sling right on the spot. I know that scientific research overwhelmingly supports breast-feeding. Unfortunately, my first pregnancy was complicated by a potentially life-threatening heart issue and the medication used to resolve it forced me to formula-feed my twins. More than one militant breast-feeder has asked me if I considered using donor milk -- no question is considered too intrusive.

The other big decision dividing mothers is the raging debate between working and staying home. Watching my mother raise three kids while putting herself through nursing school to escape an abusive marriage made me cautious. Being a divorce lawyer made me cynical. A disturbing number of young women choose to stay home without first arming themselves with the resources to survive as an independent person, which leaves them terribly vulnerable in the relatively common event of divorce. As a lawyer, I enjoy what I do. And because I have three children, I work part-time at a small firm making considerably less money than I could elsewhere. But if I had to, I could support my family all by myself.

Feeding my babies formula and choosing to remain in the workplace has isolated me at the fringes of the most active mommy groups. They tend to meet on weekdays during business hours with very few activities on the weekends. I don't work Fridays, but that day has become a precious extension of my weekend, filled with doctor's appointments, trips to the zoo, and endless errands. Even so, I've sometimes daydreamed of joining a play group and pretending to embrace the collective dogma. Motherhood can be a lonely experience. Just like in science class all those years ago, I feel abandoned by my peers. I still long for acceptance.

I sat in the minivan while my husband showed me the DVD player, the hard drive where I can upload all my iTunes, and the on-screen navigation system. Some things about motherhood are inevitable and ... awesome. I don't mind being in the minivan group. I'll probably never be one of the mommy "in" crowd, but at least I look the part.

Stocks lose gains as Bernanke dims stimulus hopes (AP)

NEW YORK ? Stocks are giving up their morning gains as remarks by Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke dim hopes that a third round of bond-buying might be on the way.

In a second day of testimony Thursday, Bernanke told lawmakers that the Fed was not taking more action to stimulate the economy. That cut short a morning rally. The Dow Jones industrial average had been up as many as 90 points.

Stocks rallied for much of Wednesday after Bernanke left the door open to new economic stimulus measures, but only if the economy worsened.

The Standard & Poor's 500 index is down less than a point to 1,317 at midday. The Dow is up 22, or 0.2 percent, at 12,514. The Nasdaq composite is down 8, or 0.3 percent, at 2,789.

By Chitralekha Basu (China Daily)

Chinese authors are still struggling to carve a niche in the global gallery of contemporary literary greats. Chitralekha Basu reports.

Jo Lusby, who heads Penguin in North Asia, was recently quoted in Shanghai?s Oriental Daily on the subject of Chinese literature and Western expectations. Buying Chinese fiction for the overseas market, she said, was not necessarily about picking the best, or the bestsellers. Rather, it was about ?what piques the interest of the Western reader?.

Looks like moral tales about corruption among bureaucrats, angst-ridden teenagers living it up in wild Shanghai and the ?cultural revolution? (1966-1976) will dominate the Chinese list of Western presses for a while. Or will it?

While Lusby?s comment might read a bit too focused on the market, Paul Richardson, chairman of China Publishing Ltd, the United Kingdom, and member of the advisory board of the China Book International, feels, ?Lusby has been the publisher most committed to the wider diffusion of Chinese writing in the West.? (?Apart from the UK-based literary agent Toby Eady,? Richardson hastens to add.)

?Of course, one must be ready to innovate and take risks on new things that one believes in, but you also have to know what your market is ready to accept ? whether in the UK or China.

?Penguin has the reputation and recent track record of publishing very good quality books that, mostly, also sell well,? Richardson says.

Good sales are a relative idea. The last book to have notched up outstanding sales in the English-speaking market is Shanghai Baby by Wei Hui (translated by Bruce Humes/Robinson Publishing UK) in 2001. The somewhat morbid tale of a waitress-turned-writer of erotic novels ? torn between an artist who overdoses on heroin and a German businessman who she knows is cheating on her ? is thought to have sold over 300,000 copies.

Going by more conservative projections, a Chinese book that sells 5,000 copies in English is supposed ?to break even?, according to Huang Youyi, vice-president of China International Publishing Group (CIPG) and secretary-general of the Translators Association of China. ?Occasionally when a book goes beyond 10,000 copies, it is considered a great success.?

So far it is only the Chinese classics like A Dream of the Red Mansions, Three Kingdoms, Journey to the West and The Outlaws of the Marsh that have ?enjoyed such continued sales?, he informs.

Great hope was pinned on Jiang Rong?s Wolf Totem ? a tale set in rough, weather-beaten Inner Mongolia, told from the point of view of a sent-down youth in the wake of the ?cultural revolution? ? especially after the English translation by Howard Goldblatt took the first Man Asian Literary Prize in 2007.

The book sold over 4 million copies in Chinese but failed to inspire similar reader frenzy in English. ?Penguin paid a record advance, but it sold only in very small quantities in the UK and the US, though it did sell well in English in the Asia Pacific region,? Richardson says.

?Everyone?s looking for the Chinese bestseller but we?re not there yet,? says Marysia Juszczakiewicz who founded Peony Literary Agency. ?But that?s not why we?re in this business,? she clarifies quickly.

Her haul for the year includes sought-after author Chan Koon-chung (The Fat Years, an Orwellian vision of China emerging as a superpower, set in the future, is being translated in 11 languages). Yan Geling?s 13 Nanjing Heroes, about the sex workers who volunteered to replace university students as escorts for invading Japanese soldiers during the siege of Nanjing in 1937 ? Zhang Yimou has just wrapped up his Christian Bale-starring film based on the book ? will be published by Random House in January 2012.

?Han Han?s got a two-book deal with Simon and Schuster, a novel and a book of essays showcasing the variety of voices in China, its history and contemporary reality,? she adds.

?It?s time the Western reader had a change of diet,? Juszczakiewicz says. ?My main interest is to show the West the variety of writing that exists and is developing in China, the variety of genres and voices, but at the same time the chosen text will have to work in translation. Now really is the time to move beyond ?cultural revolution? and scar literature and showcase the variety of depth and voices coming through.?

?The focus is still pretty much on the ?cultural revolution?, ethnic groups and rural China. There?s a lot of good writing mainstream publishers won?t take up,? says Harvey Thomlinson, who founded the Hong-Kong-based Make-Do Publishing essentially to provide a platform to ?writers with independent voices, ambitious to come into their own?.

Thomlinson has translated and published Murong Xuecun?s Leave Me Alone Chengdu ? originally an existentialist blog post about the erosion of values in entrepreneurial urban China.

The book, which inspired a cult following in China, has since been published in 10 countries, and is highly visible in stores in Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore.

The English version of Li Er?s The Magician of 1919, due out in September, is again, ?too avant-garde for any mainstream publisher to be interested in,? feels Thomlinson. Set in Beijing in the grip of a nationalist upsurge in the wake of May 4, 1919, in The Magician, Li revisits history through the prism of fantasy and twists around the linear narrative.

The unsparing, black humor, often replete with scatological references ? the sort that marks Li Er?s writing and, indeed, that of his slightly-older contemporaries, Mo Yan and Yu Hua ? is often difficult to translate across cultures, Thomlinson points out.

So what gets picked instead for overseas publication is often tracts of ?literary, sophisticated prose, which is, in essence, bad literature. It does not reflect the resounding spontaneity that marks some of the new Chinese literature?.

The hard truth is that while Chinese art and cinema have managed to impress Western audiences, Chinese literature is yet to carve its own niche in the global gallery of contemporary literary greats.

?No recent literary books from China have made a major impact in the UK ? none for instance in the top 250 new books published in 2010 and probably none in the top 2,500,? Richardson says.

According to Christopher Mattison, formerly executive editor at Zephyr Press who is now starting up a new publishing venture at Hong Kong City University, ?Among the new titles being published in the upcoming fall season by 100 independent presses based in the US and UK ? there are (only) 17 books translated from Chinese out of well over 500 in translation.?

Only one of these books is by a contemporary author and the other three Chinese titles are re-translations of Tang classics and a ?definitive? Confucius, he informs.

Huang of CIPG concedes, ?No matter whether people want to read classics or contemporary literature, the actual number of buyers of our books are limited.?

So the strategy is to try and include something for every potential reader interested in China: Lu Xun?s Commentaries on History (translation by Tang Bowen/Foreign Language Press), the 12th-century classic by Hong Mai, Records of the Listener: Selections of Chinese Supernatural Stories (translation by Alister D Inglis/FLP), and Real Life Stories of Migrant Workers and Urban Transplants (An Dun/New World Press), to name a few.

?It?s not as if we have a dearth of good Chinese writers, or works that deserve wider attention,? comments Jackie Huang, Beijing representative of the literary agent, Andrew Nurnberg Associates International. ?But there is a language obstacle and culture gap between the East and the West. It takes time for non-English readers to get interested in Chinese life. They can enjoy reading Chinese books in translation only after they have some idea about the culture.?

And I thought people read books to find out about other cultures. Sounds like a classic chicken-and-egg situation.

Leading Above Ground Swimming Pool Reduces Consumer Energy Costs ...

Leading Above Ground Swimming Pool Reduces Consumer Energy Costs in Tough Times

Indianapolis, IN (Vocus) January 5, 2009

Can a swimming pool actually help a family save money while ultimately helping the environment? Kayak Pools Midwest, the leading above ground pool dealer in the American Midwest, answers this question with an above ground swimming pool that is energy efficient and virtually maintenance free ? a seasonal addition to the home that uses less energy and saves pool owners time, as well as money.

?Our energy-efficient swimming pools actually do allow our pool owners to be a part of the green movement in a sense,? said Lisa Sweet, director of marketing for Kayak Pools Midwest. ?For people across the country trying to find ways to decrease their collective footprint on the environment coupled with the high cost of gas, there?s never been a smarter time to invest in an above ground swimming pool.?

Kayak?s advanced three-way filtration system only needs to be operated about eight hours a day on average ? fully one-third of the time needed by most systems found in traditional in-ground swimming pools. Over the course of six months, that?s a savings of four months of energy.

Sweet also claims the unique honeycomb design of the aluminum pool walls in a Kayak above ground pool create a natural air barrier within the wall for increased energy efficiency. ?So efficient,? Sweet added, ?we recommend homeowners not invest in a pool heater until after the first season because the constant heat of the sun?s rays, combined with our insulating pool wall design, may actually maintain a comfortable season-long water temperature.?

Sweet also points out that the aluminum structure of a Kayak above ground pool contains approximately one ton of aluminum ? meaning one day, the majority of the pool material can be recycled.

?Helping consumers understand our cost-effective alternatives is important to us at Kayak Pools, and we have put a lot of effort into developing a product that benefits the environment as well as the owner?s wallet,? Sweet said. ?Families can walk out of their back door to a daily vacation and leave the car parked in the garage ? saving money as well as energy.?

Based in Indianapolis, Indiana, Kayak Pools Midwest is an authorized Kayak swimming pool dealer in Michigan, Indiana, Illinois and throughout the central United States, offering rectangular above ground swimming pools that are built to last, as well as rounds and in ground swimming pools. We are currently the largest authorized Kayak Pool dealer in the Midwest and one of the nation?s leading providers of high-quality swimming pools.

Employment Support Groups Pop Up In Md. Churches ? CBS Baltimore

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) ? The small group of people gathered at the Calvary United Methodist Church last week could easily be part of a prayer group or perhaps attending Bible study.

Instead, they?re members of a support group aimed at helping them find jobs.

A handful of people ? and not necessarily parishioners ? show up weekly to trade tips on resume writing and interview techniques.

Sometimes, they come to vent about the frustrations of job searching in a tough economy.

Is the Annapolis church an odd setting for such a group? At first glance, said Rodger Findiesen, a certified lay minister who started the group in 2009.

But in a way, it fits perfectly.

?We have about 1,500 members, and I knew some of them could use the help,? Findiesen said. ?Part of it is the networking, and part of it is the communication among people.?

As unemployment remains high ? 6.3 percent of the workforce in Anne Arundel County was out of work as of May ? job seekers are turning to support groups to help them find work. And they?re sprouting up all over, even in places of worship.

?One of the things we?re trying to do is close that black hole between the job seeker and the businesses out there looking for people,? said Fritz Diemer, a job coach at the Anne Arundel Workforce Development Corp. and volunteer with Calvary United Methodist?s group. ?There is such a huge gap.?

Severna?Park United Methodist Church was the trendsetter, Findiesen?said. He was inspired to start a similar support group after learning about the one founded by Severna Park small business owners John Covington and Sean Wise.

Covington said about 200 people have participated since it began 2 1/2 years ago. He estimates nine out of 10 members landed jobs.

?Attendance (weekly) has been as high as 25 and as low as four,? Covington said. ?I think churches are a good place to have this type of thing because you have people who have worked in the workplace and been through this before.?

Danielle Angeline of Glen Burnie was involved in the employment groups at both churches after she was laid off from her job as a technical writer last year. She since has landed a new writing job, and said it was useful to be able to bounce ideas off other group members.

?It keeps you motivated,? Angeline said. ?And you could kind of witness somebody else?s light bulb moment, too, like, `Oh, I hadn?t thought of that.? ?

A business leads a group in a church made perfect sense to former Annapolis resident Dee Ann Donnelly.

?Part of me was feeling very guided by my faith in God at the time,? said Donnelly, who now lives in Concord, N.H., and works as a regional sales manager for United Natural Foods. ?It was just so natural for me.?

Donnelly and her husband owned their own business, Donnelly Signs, for about eight years. They closed it in 2009.

?So, we made a decision to move to be closer to our New England families,? she said.

But before they could do that, they had to find jobs. Enter Calvary United Methodist?s group.

The connections she made with people in similar situations were the biggest benefit, Donnelly said.

?When you are looking for a job, you?re dealing with rejection every day,? she said. ?It can spiral into despair. This group gives people the opportunity to get through a very difficult situation together.?

It also helped to have fresh eyes review her resume, Donnelly said.

At last week?s meeting at Calvary United Methodist, a woman named Victoria shared her job search struggles. The woman, who asked to have her last name withheld for privacy reasons, said she has been working two part-time jobs for the past year after she was laid off.

?I?m just trying to find the right job,? she said. ?It seems like you spin a lot of wheels.?

The traditional methods of job searching are no longer as effective, said John Nicodemus, a job search specialist with Anne Arundel County Workforce Development Corp., and author of a book called ?So, Do You Want a Job, or What??

?There?s way too much competition for jobs out there,? said Nicodemus, who attends Calvary United Methodist?s group. He urged Victoria and others to keep networking however they can ? and church is a good place to start.

?Eventually, you are going to talk to somebody who knows somebody who has a job,? Nicodemus said.

360 Degree View, Business Process Outsourcing | Outsourcing

The term ?360 degree view? has been coined by the business process outsourcing companies. It?s generally related to customer interaction and has been in use over the years.

The concept of ?360 degree view? has been in existence for a long time, in the business process outsourcing industry. But many are still not familiar with the concept or its application. Experts opine that whenever a customer calls up an organization, it?s important for the agent attending the call, to be well-informed about the customer. The information acts as a guide to the agents in maximizing their experience. At the same, a rich customer database also enhances the effectiveness of the agent?s interaction with the customer. ?360 degree view? allows the agent to make each interaction as fresh as possible. It causes the agents to avoid the repetition of information and, to establish context and initiate desired actions.

Now this is a very important section of this specific subject. Viewing the history of the customer is also a part of the concept. ?360 degree view? considers the views regarding the future, past and present of customer interactions. A lucid view of customer history should include the history of interaction in all channels, process history, campaign activity, policy or product activity. The present view will depict the key information of the customer and the call context as well. The future view is related to the initiatives that can be taken for guiding the customer relationship. The proper activation of ?360 degree view? takes place only when the agent is able to relate the acquired information with the customer?s needs and incorporate it as required. The agents should be very much aware of as to what to apply, and when to apply.

IFuturistics BPO Video: This is a one minute video of the ifuturistics business process outsourcing capability.

?360 degree view? can take business process outsourcing a long way, if applied properly. Quick and easy access to detailed information about the customer helps the agent to act immediately and with efficiency. The agent doesn?t need to make the caller wait for a very long time. As a result, the call resolution improves leading to enhanced sales conversions. The best part is that, no costly server-ride solution is required to merge customer data in to ?360 degree view?. The solution adds efficiency to customer service and back office operations as well. It ensures compliance, reduces training time for the new agents and lowers down the level of attrition. The solution is a requisite for every call center company to initiate proper flow of business operations.

?360 degree view? is an effective solution for increasing revenue generation in the business process outsourcing market. The solution allows the agent to have all the required customer information at his finger tips. He can use this information as the knowledge base for providing appropriate answers to the customers? questions. With more of such solutions entering the scene, work has become simpler for the call center employees. They can modify the customer interaction in their desired way, to get the best of results. After all, customer satisfaction forms the core of the business process outsourcing companies, and this is the only tool they can use for increasing sales leads. ?360 degree view? acts as platform for the agents to keep up to the requirements of their customers, for better business.
