Coffee, More Than Just A Drink

When it comes to coffee not only its aroma fascinates you but also various facts related to it that makes you love it all the more. One of those being that coffee proves a boon to its consumers as it helps prevent the development of a fearful disease namely diabetes 2. Well it?s a known fact to the scientists since ages but this time it is the Chinese researchers who have been successful in deciphering the reason behind this trait of coffee of preventing diabetes 2.

According to? a research published by Ling Zheng , of Wuhan University, and Kun Huang, of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, that published recently in Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, says that they have found that there is this compound in coffee namely? hIAPP (human islet amyloid? polypeptide) which is linked to diabetes.

Earlier global epidemiological researches reveal that people consuming coffee more than four cups a day reduce their risk of developing this kind of diabetes by 50 percent, which is the most of the dominant types. Each cup of coffee lowers the risk of developing this disease by 7 percent.

The scientists who are in search of measures of preventing diabetes have been trying to find ways to block this hIAPP, and the people having this disease have their pancreas predominantly occupied by it. Zheng and Huang made it a point to find whether coffee was blocking this hIAPP.

They studied the effects which the dominant compounds of coffee namely, caffeic acid and caffeine had on hIAPP, and they found that it was blocked by those compounds to a great extent.

So, there came the conclusion that ?coffee seems to curb this disease of diabetes 2 mainly because of the ability of its active compounds to inhibit the harmful effects of hIAPP?. And thus there must be a marked effect that would be observed in the people who consume coffee on a regular basis.

Now reading this, many people would begin consuming coffee on a regular basis, and let me tell them it?s not late yet.
