INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS: Language Video; Portuguese 214 ...

PORT 214 is the second Portuguese class offered by NMSU language department, it is taught by Carol Calk and is the progression from PORT 213, Introduction Portuguese. There are five other PORT classes that are on offered at NMSU. 214 prepares students for careers in international environments for study, work or vacation because the classes are taught predominantly in Portuguese. PORT classes at NMSU are taught based on Brazilian Portuguese rather than Portuguese from Portugal because more students often find their careers leading to Brazil or they visit Brazil for vacation or study. The class focuses on grammar, oral, reading and writing skills. Students are learning from a variety of different activities such as role playing, presentations, reading articles and real world projects. This class has a great emphasis on going into the real world and using the skills taught in the classroom environment. There are Brazilian students attending NMSU who visit the class and help students in all aspects of their study. Classes are of adequate size to have beneficial interaction between students and teacher. This video was created just for you by students in the Fall 2009 College of Business Marketing 489 class: Claudia Castillo, Linzie Amick, Jose Antunez, Abigail Denham, Dominic Lujan, Sophia Marks and Jose Vargas.
