All About Nurse Salary

According to employment statistics in the country, the median yearly salary of nurses was about $60,000. This is only the median, however. The nurse salary all over the country would vary depending on the area of employment.

According to local employment statistics, nurses working in hospitals would earn about a little more than $60,000 a year. On the other hand, the statistics showed that the nurses that work at homes would earn an average of about $57,000 a year.

So, it can be seen from the aforementioned figures that nurse salary can vary significantly depending on what type of nurse you are, whether you are a hospital nurse or a nursing home nurse.

There are other things that may impact nurse salary. One factor could be the amount of experience the nurse has.

Basically, the more experience the nurse has the higher the salary that he or she could get. More experienced nurses could get up to $70,000 to $90,000 a year. The nurses with not so much experience could earn only about $30,000 a year. You can observe the significant difference experience can make on the salary of nurses. The location they work in can also impact nurse salary. The nurses who work in areas of the country with relatively higher costs of living such as California and New York are exposed to generally higher salaries. On the other hand, the nurses who are located in the more rural areas of the country have relatively lower salaries. The salaries are basically adjusted to fit and reflect the specific area?s cost of living.

Certifications and certain special trainings will also have an impact on the salary of nurses. Basically, those who have earned more certifications will have more of a chance of getting a higher salary. The degree of the nurse will also have an impact. Nurses who have graduated with a bachelor?s degree as opposed to having an associate?s degree will have higher salaries. Consequently, nurses who have master?s degrees will have the potential of reaping higher salaries. Nurse?s salaries can also vary depending on the roles that they undertake on the job. Nurses who perform the basic chores of the nurse are expected to earn the minimum that a nurse can earn. However, there are nurses who perform managerial responsibilities and are exposed to the business perspective of the medical field. These nurses tend to earn significantly higher salaries. Nursing salaries can also vary depending on what school you come from. Although this may seem to be discriminatory, it is a reality that students who have graduated from more prestigious schools and universities are given a priority over those who have graduated from other schools.

As for the future projections of the salary of this profession, the overall salary of nurses is expected to increase. This is because of the increase in demand for this profession. For this reason, more and more people have expressed their desire to become nurses. The higher demand would result in more benefits and bonuses for nurses.
