Mayor Buttigieg issues statement on George Zimmerman verdict

Mayor Pete Buttigieg of South Bend released the following statement on behalf of the verdict issued in the George Zimmerman murder trial.

It is clear that Trayvon Martin's death should never have happened. We must see in this case yet another compelling reason for all of us to judge one another only by the content of our character?never based on color, clothing, or appearance. Our community, and every community, will be better off when strangers look across difference and find reasons to respect, not fear, one another.
